Either Horde or Exim doesn't.  As Heiko points out,
one or the other has an off-by-one bug; we'll need
to actually count bytes (probably in a packet capture)
to tell which.  Since there's a 1MB buffer involved this

wireshark.

Also I'm not certain of the provenance of your Exim version.

By all means involve them - but we can't say it's Horde's problem
for sure at this stage.

It looks like it was us. We were sending a trailing CRLF after the advertised number of bytes were sent. This has been fixed, thanks for the assessment.
