First, it is considered "annoying" to post to a Linux list
(if not ANY list) in HTML. Please change Outlook Express to
post in PLAIN-TEXT, preferably in us-ascii.

Second, what is the "ownership" of BitchX? I would suggest
that perhaps that is the problem. I had this problem with
the DES-encryption cracking challenge until I changed the
ownership to that of the user I was trying to run it as.
i.e. it's data files were owned by "root" yet, I was trying
to start it as "john." I also could not save the userinfo
for the program until I changed the ownership from "root"
to "john."
        John
