Linux is a fair example, but perhaps on the "light side of Lite".
I am sure that one would get plenty of comments<g>. In the meantime a distro
based on the RFC and blatantly labeled for Newbies with a second diskette to add
in the "goodies" later might be an idea.
A nice little Python Script to take newbies into the mysteries of the command
line, and joe, jed, vi, emacs running from the GUI interface could be downright
fun to write. I would be willing to work on it if someone else will supply the
"cool examples" designed to amaze and attract the people who've never seen
anything but a GUI. I mean, things like

Are so attractive to people who have had to do a couple Win9x reinstalls for the
same effect ...... (And thanks to Steve Philp for that one, incidentally)
And if partnered with an innovative and fast-growing name like
Mandrakesoft..... Who can say what benefits might be derived?
