This is like saying, "My car doesn't work. Do you have any idea
why and how to fix it?" A computer is a fairly complicated system, and
there could be any number of reasons it's not working (or maybe it is?).
Troubleshoot the problem--do you hear the modems connecting? Open
up a terminal window and type (as root)
tail -f /var/log/messages
...and see what messages appear.
If you hear the modems connecting, then wait 10 seconds after the
connect and then type "ifconfig" and see if you have a network device
titled "ppp".
If you do have a ppp device, trying pinging the IP address of your
HPUX to see if it comes back. It could be that your DNS is the only thing
not working.
