This program runs on windows and many flavors of Un*x, including linux.
It is GPL. Source code on the web site.
I use it extensively. It is very good, and performs almost as well as X
windows, without a lot of the stability problems the Micro$ X window
servers exhibit.
It works by running a memory mapped x window session on the host box and
sending the map to the client. This means that if you have a good x
window interface (twm, fvwm, Gnome, etc) on the server box, you get all of
those features on any machine you use as a client.
