The workgroup name should be the same as your windows box. Default in win98 is WORKGROUP, you'll have to change the name in the /etc/sbm.conf file from MYGROUP to WORKGROUP. (Or whatever you want it to be...) 2. It's easiest if the user name and password are EXACTLY the same on both the linux and win98 boxes. 3. If you're using Mandrake 6.1, encrypted passwords are enabled by default. If you're using 6.0 you can either enable encryption in smb.conf or turn encryption off on the win98 box. (See Samba docs for more info)
