Yipes

Take a while to analyze--your CDRW is being accessed as a DMA device, it
appears.

Now this is the 7.1 with an updated kernel, I would guess....

Your floppy should have filetype auto, not vfat, for /dev/fd0

try bringing up a Konsole

# su
password: (root password)
# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

and record the error message, if any--escape it with a ctrl-c if it hangs

Also, we need to see if the module is loaded

# cat /proc/modules

If this doesn't show

ide-scsi

then

we need to run

# modprobe ide-scsi

and try the console mount again.

Now, on the floppy.... Lessee what happens on the CD with these
tests.--there may be a voodoo resolution of the floppy. Of course, Remove
and reseating the floppy cable could resolve it as well as an auto for fs
type.
