Ouch. I want the udma66 but it's that open ended "others?" that worries me.
Wouldn't much of the "others" as well as udma66 be in the 2.2.16 and 2.2.17
(and 2.2.18-pre8) patches?

smbfs in Linux-Mandrake 7.1 (kernel 2.2.15) doesn't see all the files in large
directories on our SMB server (not Linux, OS/2). I was told at samba.org that
it should be fixed in kernel 2.2.18-pre8.

At this point I'm wondering if another linux distribution would have a better
system for applying kernel patches and re-compilation. With Linux's monolithic
kernel, I'll be doing this again the next time we need to update a device
driver.
