Ouch. I want the udma66 but it's that open ended "others?" that worries me. Wouldn't much of the "others" as well as udma66 be in the 2.2.16 and 2.2.17 (and 2.2.18-pre8) patches? >P.S. What problems are you having with samba ? I have 2.0.7 running on 2 >Mdk 7.1 boxes, 1 is a PDC, 1 doing general file-serving, no problems, >plus 2 machines with 2.0.6 as clients. smbfs in Linux-Mandrake 7.1 (kernel 2.2.15) doesn't see all the files in large directories on our SMB server (not Linux, OS/2). I was told at samba.org that it should be fixed in kernel 2.2.18-pre8. At this point I'm wondering if another linux distribution would have a better system for applying kernel patches and re-compilation. With Linux's monolithic kernel, I'll be doing this again the next time we need to update a device driver.
