That's certainly the right way to go. But it seems like so many device drivers and other linux parts are not yet available as separate modules. Like smbfs, udma, ethernet and video cards ... (Last month I upgraded the OS/2 box to support udma100 by replacing a single file and re-booting. Installing a ext2fs filesystem required a few more files and re-boot. Unfortunately much of the rest of OS/2 is dying a slow death, hence our exploration of linux.) Anyway, guess I'll download the 2.2.17 kernel source, apply the 2.2.18-8pre patch and udma patch, recompile, etc., ... and see what happens. Many thanks for your help in this.
