It is actually very simple to fix the file association so Konqueror OPENS web
sites from Kmail. I did it and it opens them perfectly. I understand that you
are a newbie and do not know how to properly setup software you run.

Opera can not even show java applets, Konqueror can. And if you are talking
about https sites Konqueror handles them but you have to download proper
files to make it work. And it is not kde developers fault that web "masters"
make web sites "best viewed in MS IE or Netscape". And remember IE and
Netscape are browsers which have been around for many years, and Konqueror
was released in november 2000 (three months ago !!!).
If you want to pay for your software, and do not know how to use your free
software I think that MS Windows is the best solution for you. With MS IE you
can browse fast, do your home banking, use the latest Macromedia products,
run java and visit all these "best viewed in MS Internet Explorer" sites. And
all of that without nasty banners which will be part of "free" Opera.
Best regards,
