What happens when you try? I am new to Mandrake, but often if the
linux box cannot resolve the telnetting box's ip address (I assume it
has one, you mentioned samba, which does not need one in NT) then it
will hang when you telnet in. Make sure there is at least a line in
/etc/hosts like:
NTbox xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the NT box's ip address.
I also assume that you are not telnetting in as root or a user with
UID=0.
