Hi people,
sorry this has taken a day or 2 to get back to .

I have now set the windows box 192.168.0.16
on the 255.255.255.0 subnet ,
whilst doing ifconfig I noticed that there were 2 ethernet devices shown
on this machine which is bogus ,but it seems widows is trying to
call the intermal modem eth0 ,so I disabled the modem and set the ip addy
manually .ifconfig now shows eth0 set correctly but still no joy .
it is still stumbling when detecting proxy settings .
Etherape is now showing the lappy as localhost would this have somthing to do
with it ?this is really getting to me as I have set this up before and it
all worked like a charm first go using dhcp
