thanks for the reply.

I added the two lines you indicated to my modules.conf but still no luck. I 
now have the following message in dmesg:
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy

Also the sound card works in windows so i guess that should rule out a badly 
installed card. I even changed slot but no luck.


can you send me the output of your lspci -v command to see how the card is 
listed.
