Very common problem, I'm surprised you did not see anything related to it 
cause it has been discussed al over the place.  Perhaps you just didn't get 
the right search terms in the Google bar.

Try also either turning off the apic in the bios or passing the noapic 
parameter to the kernel at boot.  Mopst likely this was your trouble in 9.0 
also.
