Paedor,

  Honestly.. the way to avoid my problems is to NOT buy a used Compaq
Armada M700 to use wireless.  I'd be willing to bet that 90% of my
problems are hardware related.... Judging mostly by the fact that I
don't get the same error in /var/log/messages....   Card wise I've only
run into problems with cooker because of the constant changes of the
beast.  However ... I'm sending this wireless right now... Now I've just
got to learn how to combine 

1.  Out of date man pages.
2.  What is supposed to work (like cardctl scheme)
3.  Mandrakes mods (like ifupwireless) 

Into a more correct stream.  Basically my problem has been that there is
a wealth of info on how to get this running on the 2.2 kernel and RH
6.2  which really doesn't get me very far *grin*
