Well I'm speaking totally as a non-programmer. ;) Keep the seperate components, have a simple gui front end that allows them all to be controlled as before. I really can't believe that it is a nightmare.. isn't the gui just a front end for urpmi? How can it be a nightmare? I know... drop it already... I just thought this must be a hot button for you.
