I have primarily used the urpmi family of tools on the cli instead of rpmdrake for a some time as that seems to be quicker and more flexible, so I am not the one to advise how to use rpmdrake. However, you can open both the install and uninstall modules of rpmdrake at the same time (from mcc) and switch between them as needed with one click, as it took one click to switch modes in the previous gui. IIRC, the former rpmdrake even required that you re-enter the search term when you switched modes, so there doesn't seem to be too much difference in functionality wrt this feature.
I'm sorry, but I'm unfamilar with cli. Or are you saying the command line interface, so you only type stuff in?
Yes, I mean command line interface when I speak of the urpmi tools, about which more here: http://urpmi.org/
Kind of like comparing apples to airplanes!
When I say you can open both rpmdrake installer and rpmdrake uninstaller from the Software Management module in Mandrake Control Center (mcc) and switch between them with one click of the mouse to search for a file in uninstalled or installed packages, not so much differently than the procedure in the former rpmdrake gui, I would consider that apples and apples ;)
