Kaspersky actually identified the viruses.  Each time they have been

I don't think it is the problem, in this case, given that she is not 
promiscuous in the kind of sites she browses, and that her av 
software was definite about the viruses found.  I'm waiting for her 
to get back tomorrow, as Kaspersky will only talk to me about her 
licensed installation if I can give them sufficient identifiers - 
quite right too, but causing a delay.  Hopefully they will be able to 
tell me how I can improve protection of her mail.

If I get anything useful on that score I'll let you know.
