Yeah, we were given the opportunity to protest, but it was clearly indicated
to us that it would not fly and that my grid position would remain DFL. I
think at least two race groups had come and gone through impound before we
knew what the issue was. The sun was going down and Marilyn was getting
hungry. Under the circumstances, I think I chose the lesser of two evils.

Thanks guys, I'm feeling a little better now. I'll e-mail the CRB. I just
need to find a way permanently seal up the ducts in a manner that I can undo
if the CRB cooperates.

Hey Charlie,

The proper thing to do would have been to protest the decision at the track.
If the steward had upheld it, that would have opened the door to file an
appeal.

However, since a protest wasn't filed, I think that the right thing to do is
to submit a letter (or better yet email) to the CRB requesting a review and
clarification of the rules. Dave laid out the jist of what you should quote
in the letter to support your position, and including a couple pictures
can't hurt. CC the f500 list on your letter so that others can write in to
support your position.

The CRB tends to be pretty responsive when it comes to rule clarifications.
