Three:

AMW added in 1994
Rotax 494 added in 1997
Rotax 493 added in 2003 (or was it 2004? Memory is the first to go...)

Overall, I don't think that's too bad of a track record for longevity.
It'll be 10 years for the Rotax 494 next season. 

On the other hand... I'm with Jay... introducing an alternative 4 stroke
with gearbox won't kill the class and may attract some new blood.

Personally, I think it's going to be tough to get a motorcycle engine to
be competitive with the Rotax/CVT combination, but hey, we'll never know
if nobody ever tries it.
