Don't get me wrong (as Chris R. usually does),
I'm not saying that you shouldn't look at 4-strokes and gearboxes.
Chris probably has alot of good ideas along those lines, if he hasn't posted
already (I'm behind on e-mails)
However, don't expect engine/tranny alternatives to be the whole answer,
even if it does help spice things up a little for awhile.
I just wanted to remind people that there are other aspects of F500 that
really turn off potential buyers.
...and, Yeah, some of it is certaintly just the buyer's perception, not
reality.
Like Jay said about solid rear axles: "we have plenty of grip".
Well, we have plenty of motor too, but here we are looking...
One last time (really)
Shocks need not be expensive and they are one thing that would make F500
more like a real formula car that ISN'T just perception.
Restricting them to steel with one external adjustment might help.
Pulling apart the trophy position's shocks at Run-offs to see if the insides
have been altered would probably be sufficient.
One last thought: It may also be that road racing overall just isn't very
popular right now anyway. Gas prices ARE having an effect
