Neither your premise nor conclusion are really true here, Chuck. In my
experience, both formula cars and sports racers definitely benefit from front
ARBs (I speak from 9 years experience running pro and club Atlantics, plus
several more years running C and DSRs). The Stohr/West (1st & 2nd generation)
DSRs do not have ARBs due to their particular front suspension layouts, but by
not having them teams are forced to use more front spring rate than they
otherwise would for optimal mechanical grip. Believe me, this is a constant
source of frustration for many serious DSR guys. Also, the Stohr/West are the
only DSRs which do not have at least front ARBs - all others do. Stan

Sway bars are not really necessary to the look nor function of a formula
car. So those could be left off. The newest DSR's don't have any.
