Jay we have to run 90db for Solo II, both at Deven's and the small handicapped parking lot we use at NHIS. While we are limited to 90db's at NHIS, I think they are running 100db's on the track the same weekend we are there. We do not have the bowl of the oval to trap some of our noise.

Vern and Betsi Lyle did come to our event from New Jersey this past weekend. They had what looked like a Aeen muffler pointed down and elbow turned to the side. When they were called on noise they turned the elbow so it pointed under the car and they were ok. I may try this with my car so that I don't need the big Flowmaster. I will let you know how I make out.

Can only hope we get the new track in the planning in Palmer, Mass, near Springfield! Also, Bill Goodale, AM, who went from a snowmobile to bike engine admitted the other day the very busy shifting is much different from his old Porsche powered car which had a lot of low end usable power and only 4 speeds. 80% of his hp at 2500rpm's.

I am surprised that so many seem to have noise problems. We are typically in the mid 90s
with out car. Do you have different levels in the NE?

Thanks ... Jay Novak

Jay that would be ok, but most of us in the real areas (New England) that
are currently having the biggest noise problems still would like to see a
4stroke sled engine with CVT. Also, I thought it was mentioned that
someone, maybe Aeen was working on a solution to keeping the noise down
without having to ad a big car muffler to our cars. A small Dynamax seems
to work on the newer 493 engine much better than the combination of my
Flowmaster and Aeen singer on my 494! I don't know if Aeen has seen
pictures of my setup, but it sure is fugly!

I am starting this thread to simply start a dialog on the subject of
alternative drive trains, so do not send the assassins.

I am of the opinion that we need a 4 stroke engine with a conventional
transmission for our class to survive. I would be happy with a 2 stroke
with a transmission but I do not think there is a production engine
available.

I am not saying that we eliminate the 500cc w/CVT combination, but only
that
we have a competitive alternative engine that has a conventional 6 speed
transmission.

I say this because we need to generate lots of new interest in F500 or we
have a good chance of losing our national status in a few years.

Thanks ... Jay Novak
