Jim,
We get FSAE cars from four different schools at our events at Deven. When
talking to the guys from WPI (drove one of their cars a few years ago), they
said they are using moutain bike shocks!

Subject: [F500] Shock Talk for Chuck and Jay
Chuck and Jay,
I am hugely in favor of better suspension control so if it is felt that
the 3" rubber (elastomer) cylinder will NOT do the job (damping), I am
requesting that the two of you (because I believe that you are the best
qualified) talk offline and come up with a good cost effective solution
that the class can present to the CRB. One possible idea is the very
small coil-over shock that the FSAE's have been using. I was told that it
came from a mountain bike, which I find hard to believe, but the outside
dimensions are about the same as what we have now and should be an easy
fit in our cars. It would be spec with only one spring allowed and sealed
(one part number permited).
I am anxious to see what the two of you together can come up with - maybe
in time for 2007? - is this possible, Stan?
Here is a good idea to help our class - anybody else on this list want to
step up?
Jim
