Much of the problem in class participation can be found in virtually ALL classes. There are less racers filling up their trucks with gas, staying in hotels, and buying race gas. This problem is not unique. It is largely systemic due to economic conditions.>>> While this is certainly true, it is also true that F500 has declined in participation relative to other classes. This can partly be attributed to the apparent 'new' measurement method of looking at ALL the Divisions, rather than just the highest - F500s are pretty scarce West of the Rockies. However, if we're taking a bigger hit than the other open-wheelers, we have to be realistic and put together a recovery plan or risk being marginalized. As of right now, it doesn't appear that we're in as much jeopardy as GTL or T3, but it wouldn't surprise me at all for Topeka to have a plan in place to keep those classes afloat. If I were in HP, CSR, S2, F500, or GT3, I would be very worried about combination classes, similar to GT4/5 => GTL. That said, F500 has active builders and is at the top of this group, but......19th out of 25 isn't exactly a position of strength for negotiating. FF is 7th. ________________________________ FormulaCar Magazine - A Proud Supporter of Formula 500 The Official Publication of Junior Formula Car Racing Subscribe Today! www.formulacarmag.com or 519-624-2003 _________________________________
