Hard to see weak spark melting an electrode. CDI and coils are extremely reliable on these motors. Never ever seen a bad one on a Kaw in 14 years. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but -that is very very rare.

Faulty electronics also doesn't appear to explain why you melted one electrode and the other is perfect, or is it?

The only way to get a delta in advance electrically is if there is a piece of metal stuck on a magnet in the flywheel. Real easy to check if you have a proper puller-don't touch the flywheel otherwise, you will ruin it w/out proper puller.

Mechanically, you can get a advance delta between barrels if the crank throws are off. (one piston comes up sooner than the other)

Check head volume and deck height of piston tops between cylinders, then indexing of crank.

What is your timing set at? At least tell us where you are in the stator slots. If the stator is rotated as far as it wil go CCW that is max advance. Estimate the gap to the end of the CCW travel.(looking from mag end of motor.)

Then, what is your jetting? Fuel you are using?

Dual port fuel pump with a very weak or intermittent output to one cylinder?
Now that might possibly be temperature dependent.

Crankcase pulse pump giving up when motor is hot and more fuel always left in one bowl then other. Then cornering force takes that low fuel level cylinder totally lean first?
-kinda reaching here :->

I'd expect the piston to melt before the spark plug. Do you check the gap when you check the plugs between runs?

Plugs looked great and the gaps were great too.

Other than the welded appearance, your symptoms sound alot like an ignition coil going bad. They work for a while, then start to arc internally as temp goes up. Then the spark deteriorates.

The part about deteriorating as temps go up certainly sound like my car. Can this lead to detonation?
