These are pressed together cranks (typical 2-stroke), not cast as one piece
like a automobile.
Don't try to run the motor or even turn it over much if you hear things!
If any debris is down below the pistons, it can score the case and make
rebuild very expensive or impossible. More likely, you have something above
a piston, but that can ruin things down below if it jams against the head
(like push a crank throw out of alignment or break or bend a rod).
In fact, that is how crank throws probably get knocked out of alignment in a
motor. Usually happens while running,tho. Takes a lot of force-your hand may
not do it at near zero RPM. But you can ding up a perfectly good head or
piston by hand cranking !!!
