I won't do a big event without new tires. Last year I was near the bottom of the heap in all of the national tour events. Very frustrated. Couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't turn. Lots of testing with no effect. New tires, win championship. Those tires that were frustrating me were only two months old with about 15minutes total time, maybe 20 heat cycles and they were terrible.
If you show up at Nationals without new tires, the car will be about a second to two seconds at least slower. Road racing is the same. New tires=fast. At least two-three seconds on a used set with goodly amounts of rubber vs new. jim ----- Original Message ---- From: John Whitling <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, October 3, 2006 11:32:58 AM Subject: Re: [F500] A Little Additional History and an Equity Proposal YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way I'm putting 100 lbs of lead in my car for a bunch of lazy Vee drivers. Our cars are the GCR legal cars. Go bastardize the the Vees some more. BTW, at least all one new solo car is being built for FMod that uases a 440 with a weight break so don't give me the story that a 440 isn't competitive either. And Bill, you cannot expect to compete with old tires. Jan Schmidt wrote: >I agree 100% with Jim on this one. It would cost about $50 for lead and >a couple of bolts.
