Why not go for the "real" thing and ask for damping as well as springs.
Low cost is NOT undamped rubber pucks when you consider frame and body
damage.
In the long run, easier to tune by every racer and every race prep shop out
there.
Should the knowledge of all the little tricks to make rubber pucks kinda
work be in the hands of a gifted few?
Geez, Formula Vee is supposed to be low cost and they all have at least low
end Penske's on them.
I see retaining rubber pucks as just a cheap way to get new cars out the
door by the F500 mfg.
Every autocrosser of a stock or street prepared car knows the value of good
shocks on their cars.
No wonder they sneer at the rubber pucks in a F500.
"Not a real race car" comes to the lips.

Subject: [F500] Pucks again

You all may remember that I had mentioned that I would see both Q and Bob
Introne at the final NARRC event at Lime Rock and would clarify Q's feeling
about the pucks and also question Bob about the BOD rejection of the CRB
recs. I never saw Q as I don't think he came up for the weekend. However I
did have a lengthy and informative conversation with Bob. It appears that
1) the BOD never saw any info on our survey that Joe Palmer moderated. 2)
he said a member of the board ( I think he said from SanFran) was not in
favor of the proposal as he felt it would increase the costs and not be in
the spirit of keeping F500 a low cost class 3) they did get a letter from a
mfg and also from several members of the Dallas region? objecting...but the
two most important things he said was that A) the CRB never "fought" for
the changes and that B) it was his feeling that if the proposal came up
again at the Dec meeting it might be approved!!
I guess the ball is in our lap again. Another thing he told me that I found
interesting was that he feels the BOD should oversee the business functions
of the SCCA and leave the rules changes to the CRB
