Gene - I too have had several hours in Mooneys up to and including the
201..great aircraft but the narrow cockpit must have prepared you for the
F500s.

You know, that comment about aircraft triggered something in what little
brain I have left. The Mooney M20E I got my commercial license and a lot
of my instrument time in had (and still has) - are you ready? - RUBBER
PUCKS for main gear suspension. But it uses four of them stacked up. You
can see a photo of the set up here:
http://www.aopa.org/images/pilot/mooney/0003_10.jpg . But my F500 is a
heck of a lot easier to slow down, come in a bit hot and that Mooney would
float for what seemed to be forever; considering the strip I flew out of
was only 2460 feet long...

My F33A Beech Bonanza could land at 52mph (good for those slow corners)
and had a straight line speed of 170KTs (195.5mph) which is a hell of a
lot faster than any F500 or S2000 I've ever driven.
What's wrong with wings..as a matter of fact we can now buy those soon to
be worthless F1000
homebuilts (read non-Stohr) put our 494/493 Rotaxes in them and be
................F500!!!!
