I was told that a sled test of R3 was worse than using nothing! The actual
weight of the unit added to the inertia and did nothing in the way of stopping
the head movement. The problem is the way that the device attaches. The Hans
is the only one the has a full shoulder front and back rigid support. Anything
with a strap or bar or whatever, slides up and does nothing.

pluses (no way for the seat belts to come off). Similar head protection idea
as the HANS. Downside in relying upon the chest to maintain position.
Questionable fit in a KBS anyway with the multiple angles to the back, but
someone with a thicker insert/pad may be fine.

hans

Verify it's the 30 degree one. The 10 and 20's are cheaper

Anyone
tried the R3 device? How does it compare with the hans? Is the
R3 approved
for Grand Am/NASCAR

old bill would say "its not
even a question"

or anyways a pretty dumb one. $1000 is pretty cheap for a
little
peace of mind.

injuries/ neck pain
common in a crash.
