I know it is not everywhere but in NJ they have Lojack which does a good job
of locating cars right away rather than hoping the stolen car is parked out
in the open or happens to drive by. On-Star can do the same thing if a car
has it. As far as crime goes suppose the car was used in a felony in CA and
then sold. I believe the plates remain with the car. Unsuspecting new buyer
is on his way home and gets stopped by the now infamous LAPD. Would they
resort to extreme measures (beat down) if the poor slob objects? While I
know there are security and other issues I still do not like the ever
increasing erosion of our freedom by govenmental authority.
