Concur with Cory's post. In addition,...............

I also saw a tube axle actually break on another car several years ago. The breakage was attributed to the use of only one rotor/caliper and sadistically excessive trail braking. "Rumor has it" that the axle didn't have very thick walls either. The ones I used were 1.25" with .25" walls. Never broke one but, bent a couple.

It doesn't take much to bend an axle. Bob Gelles's son used my car as a brake once going into the chicane at Daytona a few years ago. All it did was spin me out and bend the axle and rim. I also had a CSR bump my rr tire at Hallet going into a turn back in 1997. I barely felt it, but it bent the axle. It makes sense that the jackshaft would be resier to bend because of it's smaller size, but I've never had one bend, probably because it's better protected within the chassis.

been in a wreck once. Does anyone out there know of a wreck involving my
car? (formerly George Harmuth's Zink 22) Out of curiosity, how hard a lick
does it take to bend a 1.25 inch shaft like this? Would a person even
survive a wreck like that?!
