Bill Alot of the cars are using a Bosch starter instead of the Rotax unit. The Bosch part has an open nose that clears the clutches better. It also requires the external selenoid. The rotax starter has an enclosed nose that you have to do a significant amount of grinding on for clearance. Herb
Why is it that the rotax powered cars have seperate Ford style starter solenoids, but ski-doo sells their starters with a solenoid piggybacked on it? I see 3 bolt holes on the starters that I assume bolt onto the rotax engine block. Are there any advantages with either set-up? I am seeing the ski-doo starters rather cheap on ebaymotors.
