Depending on how we wish to structure the cost comparison there is also
the frequency of those rebuilds. One of the main reasons FC legalized
the Zetec is that there was very, very little performance drop off in
5kmi of racing, which equated to a lot of racing seasons.

Additionally blueprinting is unnecessary, as compared to the Pinto,
because the production tolerances of today's engines is very good. Or at
least that was the theory. I imagine the production bike motor will be
similar.

If you overrev and bend a valve (a lot more difficult to do in a
sequential box, IMO) you will incur some money. If not, though, we could
be looking at 3 or 4 years between rebuilds, unlike the Rotax.

I don't know if this is the case, BTW. I know it was central to why FC
legalized the Zetec and MAY apply. Anyone out there with more, real,
knowledge please comment. I know DSR does things a lot differently. We
could structure engine rules such that this won't happen or there would
be very little advantage to blueprinting.
