You got exactly what you ordered. You will want a DPDT (double pole,
double throw) switch. It will have 6 terminals on the back.

Like this:

1| |4
2| |5
3| |6

Terminals 1-2 would be to ground the ignition. Terminals 5-6 would be
to turn off the electrics. The terminals won't be numbered, but this is
how it will look.

Subject: [F500] HELP - master kill switch

I have decided to use a toggle switch for the first time as the master
kill on my new car, instead of the big switch with the red key. Is the
correct designation for the toggle switch for this applications as
follows: double pole / single throw with one circuit normally open and
the other normally closed? I thought I ordered a switch with that spec
from McMaster Carr, but when I wire it up, both circuits are on and off
at the same time, not reversed like I need. Am I missing something?

Also, can anyone tell me where they have bought the correct switch?

  Thanks, Cory
