Tony, Here are the part numbers that you need to change in the VM 38 carbss, so that they work with the 493. Needle: 6DEY10-4 (Ski Doo part #404161884) Needle jet: P-8 (480) I know the needle is a Ski-Doo specific part, but I can't remember if I also got the needle jet from Tony. Those were the only two tuning components that I changed when I went from a 494 to 493. I also just bought a new set of carbs from Dennis Kirk this year and switched out the same 2 components. I have had good luck with main jets in the 320-340 range, but I try not to get too lcose to the endge with the EGTs. Cory

Given Dennis Kirk or my used Kawi carbs, do I just need the parts for a 2000 MXZ? I believe that was the only 493 sled that used a 38mm roundslide. Do I need the needle and jet needle, or are other parts different as well? A main jet size of 340 sounds huge compared to what the Kawi needed. What jet size do you typically end up with? My Kawi came with an assortment of jets up to 300, but the bigger ones are white plastic (nylon)..are these OK?
