Well, Chuck M, here is some stuff to chew on:

The rulebook in "2.1 Course Safety and Layout Rules" has the following wording: (note lack of a "shall")

"Speeds on straights stretches should not normally exceed the low 60's for the fastest Stock and Street Prepared Category cars"

"Turns should not normally allow speeds in excess of 45 mph in unprepared cars."

Now, that said, note that the very first sentence in this section has a "must" in it.

"Courses must be tight enough so that cars run the entire course in their lower gears".

Hmmm. But what is the definition of their lower gears? The first 3 or 4 of 6? or 1st and 2nd on any car?

Last I recall....Autocrosses were considered 'low speed' events with courses
to be designed to limit top speed to about 70 MPH for the fastest cars. I
suspect this was not an SCCA sanctioned event.

Subject: [F500] gearing ratios

I topped out in gearing at an autocross the other day with my 5.58 ratio
final drive gearing. What ratio would I need to gain another 5mph in top
speed? I bet there is an internet site that would answer that for me. A
125 shifter cart clocked 104 mph at this event!!!!!
