I'll cop to deferred maintenance on the fuel cell. I knew it needed
to be replaced, I just wanted one more season out of it. As far as
the brake caliper crossover tube failure, Wilwood Tech asked if it had
been hit to cause the break; not to my knowledge, though the wheel
could have ingested a stone or tire turd that hit the tube and left no
marks anywhere else. And I inspected the rod end earlier in the
season, the corrosion pit was in the inner bore - invisible to the
eye. There was no corrosion on the outside of the rod end.

If I weren't having fun, even with "challenges", I wouldn't do it.
Sure, it's more fun to finish, and even more to win, but I'm here for
the people and the track time; if I never finished another race in my
racing life, I'd still do it for those reasons.
