Or maybe not. ************* Guru Dev was talking about enjoying the Divine Intelligence in man in its fullness, so the distinction between seeking God and seeking the self is a distinction without a difference. The Self -- infinite awareness or intelligence -- is all-inclusive, cosmic, because it has no boundaries, so surely this is a definition of God also. *** In different cultures and traditions we give slightly different meanings to common concepts as God. I also think Guru Dev was talking about establishing a permanent contact with the Divine Intelligence deep inside. Until I got that established I didn't feel I was really progressing. I was a captive of the turmoil of life. A prerequisite for succesful inner progress is that you are not anymore identifying with this turmoil. On the other hand I don't think you can have a permanent foundation in this infinite intelligence of Nature without serious self inquiry that also includes moral considerations (how we relate to others). Having oneself in this way established in the Self is not an end point in human evolution. It is a starting point for a more conscious, stable and enjoyable inner transformative work and evolution.
