Rick, 
  A very good example of the "Pointing out instructions" appear in Ken
Wilber's book "Eye of the Spirit" in the Chapter "Always Already".
They have a profound effect on experience and also corrected several
deep seated misunderstandings about what enlightenment is or isn't.
