( Not trying to make light of your friend's experience
but merely trying to inject a little levity and possibly
insight... )

That explains it. In Santa Fe anyone experiencing a bout
of irregular behavior is more likely to ascribe it to
spirit possession than to just experiencing a bout of
irregular behavior. :-)

True. I lived there for six years. The place is a New
Age zoo. People will do anything to blame their problems
on an external source rather than considering it just
might be them messing up.

While I am convinced that possession happens, and in fact
have experienced some training in Tibetan methods of killing
the nasty suckers if encountered, I am personally convinced
that the incidence of this actually happening is (to para-
phrase the TM math) about one-tenth of one percent of the
times people *think* it is happening. "I was possessed"
sounds so much sexier than "I screwed up."
