I remember at TTC there was this guy who was the twitchyest of them all. His head would snap suddenly to the side, Tourrettes too, and other parts too would suddenly dance without him being a partner.
Well, naive me, I went up to him and said, "Hey, Bob, at least you know that TM works cuz, man, look at how it's really getting things moving!" He looked at me like I was the stoooopid head I was. Ya see, turns out he would rather have been like me -- without any symptoms to call proofs. He never got his mantras, but I was probably as fucked up in my own ways as he was, but I could "do the TM great guy lecturer illusion," so I passed muster as one of the TMO's "magicians." I bet Bob felt a lot better when that other CP set fire to his girlfriend's Majorca room and burned up all her clothes and $4,000 in cash. He was snuck out of Spain if I remember correctly. Made Bob's antics seem small potatoes at the time. Set a fire: unstressing, but it was a one-off. Jerk around a lot: "we don't know this guy, get him off the course." I'm betting the arsonist got his mantras eventually. Bob, probably never had a shot at it. Another woman on my course was not given mantras because she was too vocal about raw foods being, you know, something as good for you as meditating.
