I am missing the importance of Shankaracharaya endorsement. In the
west, can you see an introductory lecture:

Lecturer: "And this technique is endorsed by the Shankaracharaya. hes
like the pope."

Audience: "Huh?"

L: "Well I mean the real Shankaracharaya, not the fake one."

A: "huh?"

L: "Well at least the real northern one. The important one. Those more
southern ones -- well, you know about southern things"

A: "huh? !! ???"

A: "Isn't the Shankaracharaya a religious leader? I htought this was a
secular technique."

L: "Well of course it is. But the REAL religious leaders also think
its good. Like automobiles. Well, thats not a good example. the
Shankaracharayas are not allowed to ride in cars. "

A: "HUH ?"

L: "Well this is all more important in India"

A; "uh, ok?"

Meanwhile in India, three of the most popular teachers, Amma,
Karunyamayi, and SSRShankar appear to have no ties to or endorsements
from the Shankaracharaya. As Barry, author of "Amazing, Exagerated and
Smug Tales" would say, "Go figure."
