---Annon I was responding to Sal's comment that there was NO placebo
component in the therpeutic effect of SSRI's.As I said in another post
my opinion is that there is therapeutic effect beyond the placebo
effect in SSRI with a sizeable # of depessed pts especially with
individuals with severe depression.However to say that SSRI's are
consistently effective(beyond the placebo effect) with all or even
most depressed pts would  IMO be wrong.Kevin
Also I don't think there is anything like universal agreement re the
effectiveness of SSRIs.However to be fair I think the same thing can
be said of psychotherapy.
