Sure, unconscious symbolic gesture, I bet.  You
might see if you can get her talking, not 
necessarily have a rational discussion, more in
terms of images and metaphors of leaving.  Ask her
if she's had any interesting dreams, or tell her
one of yours (make one up if you need to), see if
that primes the pump.

Obviously if she resists or starts getting
agitated or doesn't respond, you wouldn't want
to push it, but sometimes people *want* to talk
about the impending journey but don't know how
to start, or whether they have "permission" to 
do so.  Doesn't have to make a lot of sense or
have deep philosophical meaning, nor does it
even have to be explicit.

Actually your brother could probably use some of
that about now as well.  Does he talk about his
feelings at all?
