Too little too late though: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/21/how-microsoft-spent-a-decade-sleeping-on-the-job/ Actually Microsoft had smartphones years ago with the Pocket PC and Windows Mobile embedded systems which even had apps. Most of those if with a phone had the phone part separate from the computer part. Microsoft also had tablets earlier in the century but they flopped. It was not the right time. Apple showed our company tablets that they planned to produce back in the mid 1990s. They were based on Newton. Remember those? The Newton group went off and helped develop the Palm Pilot which started the hand held device rage. The Palm was rather limited and the Pocket PC offered more but Microsoft sub contracted the OS and it was not developed well. They later took back development. According to Microsoft's jyotish chart based on their stock offering their pinnacle dasha is over.
