That's just the point - don't want to hook up a phone
to a monitor - I want to view media by streaming it
wireless to my entertainment center.

I'm using my Toshiba Ultra Book with Win 7 as a
remote control for my headless media server and home
entertainment system. The Toshiba has a conventional
hinged screen, so I was thinking of replacing the
Toshiba with a tablet like the Acer Iconia with the
10 inch flat surface.

I'm streaming to a Roku box and I'll be usnig a
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I need at least SSD,
an Intel i5, with the USB 3, and dual band wireless
N and at least 14 mbps broadband.

"The W510 is thin and light and runs forever. It's
lighter than the current ipad and although it's not
as powerful, it's actually does more for all
practical purpose. I think thin and light is the key
for those who wants a tablet experience and being
able to run normal windows software is a nice bonus
on top..."

I'm converting all my DVD video discs to mp4 and CDs
music discs to mp3, then burning computer backups to
Blu Ray discs. For that, I'm using my desktop
workstation with the Win 7 and imgBurn.

>From what I've read, Win 8 really shines as a
home-theater Admin console on a slate or tablet.

Apparently you can pin any website as a tile to appear
on the Start screen. Very handy for quick access to
your favorite sites such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu,
Pandora, or The Daily Show. LoL!

On a big screen TV the old pop-up Start menu on XP and
Win 7 looks like a button for dummies. All those
folders remind me of an old file cabinet.

And, who for God's sake, puts their trash can on top
of their desk? LoL!

"In Windows 8.1, you can boost scaling all the way up
to 200 percent by going to the Screen Resolution
settings and then clicking Make text and other items
larger or smaller. For TV screens, this level of
scaling finally makes 1080p resolution look usable on
the desktop..."
