And to state that something assists higher states is quite different
from saying the item is a requirement for enlightenment -- which is
the (erroneous, IMO) twist Peter attributed to MMY.

Asanas assist in culturing higher states. As does an AV balanced diet.
As does keeping regular hours. Are any of these things rquired for
enlightenment? No, of course not. Why do you use the same logic with SV?
