Michael, I printed out a nice copy of that alternative therapy chart, maybe I'll frame it. Here is a link to NCCAM at the National Institutes of Health. This division of NIH seems to have been the brain child of Senator Tom Harkin, because the NIH did not want it. So the results published on this site probably try to put the best spin on alternative therapies. It seems a lot of trials end up not being reported at all. Some have pointed out that the number of trials started and finished is significantly larger than the number that are published with the results. In general these therapies do not do well under rigorous scientific scrutiny. Quite a few of the studies have titles like 'such-and-such treatment may have so-and-so effect'. A number of studies, such as those on massage would seem to indicate there is an obvious effect on a person regardless of whether there is a medical effect. Some studies on mindfulness meditation.
